Video Game Symphony

Our History

Video game music is the classical music of the future.

Here at the Video Game Symphony, this belief is the crux of everything we do. Today’s audiences have a thirst for new music that is accessible, emotional, and enjoyable for everyone. And some of the greatest music of our time is found in what used to be considered the most unlikely of places…

Yes, that’s right!

Video games.

Coming from a long-lost realm of beeps and boops, today’s video game music is gripping, memorable, and instantly enjoyable. Most video games of the current age have sophisticated soundtracks performed by live musicians that rival the sweeping Hollywood scores of blockbuster movies. And many of the classic and much-cherished tunes of yesteryear are consistently being rearranged and updated for the rich expressiveness of a symphony orchestra.

In the symphonic world, video game music can no longer be ignored.

And the Video Game Symphony is here to help elevate this incredible artform and bring it to the masses.

Come see us! Support us. Spread the word.

Video game music is here to stay.

And there’s no better place to see it than with the Video Game Symphony!

The Video Game Symphony is an exciting new orchestra that is enriching the artistic landscape of Northeastern Ohio and inspiring a new generation of musicians. This groundbreaking ensemble is one of the only professional-caliber orchestras in the world dedicated exclusively to the artform of video game music. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Video Game Symphony aspires not only to bring this underappreciated genre of music to life in the concert hall, but to reach out and connect with members of the community–hosting engaging concerts and special events, collaborating with local education programs, and drawing new audiences into the rich and expressive realm of classical music.

Founded in June 2023 by Andrew Keller and Jaclyn Kurtz, two Kent State grads, the Video Game Symphony has since given electrifying performances at the Maltz Performing Arts Center, Colossalcon, Cleveland Gaming Classic, Cleveland Public Library, Akron-Summit County Public Library, Fan Expo Cleveland, Kent State University, and more.  Performing smash hits like Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Pokemon, Halo, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and Skyrim in all their symphonic glory, the Video Game Symphony is an experience not to be missed!
